Article I -- Membership
Any person interested in the development of Catholic Youth in Sacred Heart Elementary School is eligible for membership.
Section 1: The membership of this organization shall include two classes: active and associate.
Section 2: Active: All parents or foster parents of children attending Sacred Heart Elementary School are eligible for membership and are encouraged to participate. These members have paid dues which include membership in the Nebraska Federation of Catholic School Parents (NFCSP).
Section 3: Associate: Members of the faculty of Sacred Heart Elementary School shall be associate members without paying dues.
Article II -- Officers
The Office of Co-President shall:
- preside at all meetings of the Association
- appoint Chairpersons of the standing committees and persons to other offices
- perform such duties as are incumbent to the office.
The Co-Presidents are ex-officio members of all committees.
The Office of Co-Vice President shall:
- act as President if there is an absence of both Co-Presidents
- shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the Co-Presidents
- shall keep a pictorial record of Home and School events.
The Office of Secretary shall:
- keep the minutes of all Association meetings
- keep the minutes of the Executive Board meetings
- make available the minutes at respective meetings
- take care of all correspondence
- discharge such duties as are incumbent to this office.
The Office of Treasurer shall:
- receive all dues and other monies of the Association
- keep accurate records of the same
- present a statement of account at every meeting of the Association
- pay bills only when authorized by the Executive Board.
An accounting also will be made prior to the acceptance of the resignation of the incumbent Treasurer and report shall be made to the Executive Board.
ARTICLE III -- DUES
The dues of this Association shall be ten dollars ($10.00) per family per year. These dues are payable at the beginning of each school year. Out of these dues monies, three dollars will be paid to the NFCSP, with the remaining seven dollars of the dues monies going into the general fund of the local association.
ARTICLE IV -- EXECUTIVE BOARD
Section 1: The Officers of the Association make up the Executive Board.
Section 2: The Co-Presidents and the Secretary of the Association, respectively, shall act as Chairpersons and Secretary of the Board.
Section 3: In the event of a vacancy in office during an unexpired term, a new officer shall be appointed by the Executive Board.
ARTICLE V -- MEETINGS
The regular meetings of the Association shall be held on a monthly basis from August through May, with the time and date to be set by the Executive Board.
Officers for the next year will be determined in April.
ARTICLE VI -- COMMITTEES
The Standing Committees shall be as follows:
Section 1: Teacher Liaison shall:
- communicate the needs/wishes of teachers/staff at Sacred Heart School to the Association
- coordinate the efforts of the Association to assist in these endeavors as approved by the Board.
Section 2: Membership shall:
- keep a list of Association members
- encourage membership of every parent who has a child enrolled at Sacred Heart Elementary School
- coordinate a welcome packet to introduce new families to the goals and mission of the Association.
Section 3: Uniforms shall:
- coordinate the sale of school uniforms, designed in accordance with school dress code
- publicize the availability of said uniforms.
ARTICLE VII -- AD HOC COMMITTEES
These include:
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Used Clothing Sales
- Tour of Homes
- Book Fair
- Red Wheel Fundraiser
- Dining Out Nights
- Soup Luncheon
- Sock Hop
- Easter Egg Hunt
- any other committee necessary to address a specific need as determined by the Executive Board.
ARTICLE VIII -- LENGTH OF TERMS OF OFFICE
The terms of offices will be for two years for the offices of Co-President and Co-Vice President. These officers' terms shall be staggered such that one co-officer with experience is in each office at all times.
ARTICLE IX -- NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS
Section 1: Nominations will be accepted in March for the appointment of officers which shall take place in April.
Section 2: If more than one candidate is interested in holding an office, the Co-Presidents shall determine the officer by lottery form.
Section 3: Newly elected officers shall assume their duties on June 1.
ARTICLE X -- RULES
The meetings of the Association shall be conducted according to the rules contained in “Robert's Rules of Order-Revised.”
ARTICLE XI -- AMENDMENTS
These By-Laws may be amended at any regular meeting by a majority vote of the members present and voting, provided notice has been given at a previous business meeting.
